Weight loss..the only way to keep it off for good

Susan Birch - Real Health Blog

Have you seen the latest? The all new “Blast the Fat” and the real “Fat-loss Training System” diet trends for 2017. These ‘new and improved’ diets are all designed to make you feel inspired about achieving your weight loss goals.

However, there’s something these diets will never be able to achieve…lasting weight loss.

Sucks doesn’t it? But here’s why and what you CAN do about it.

Why these diets and exercise programmes don’t create lasting results…

This reason is really very simple.

If you want to lose weight and keep it off long-term, without the need for excessive dieting and exercise, then your body must be healthy first. This is the Golden Rule…get healthy first.

Mostly, diets are based around the concept of energy balance and the idea of matching calorie intake versus calorie output. The eat less, exercise more experiment has been touted as the go-to method for many years yet obesity levels continue to spiral out of control.

Controlling your weight does depend on energy balance, however, energy balance does not depend only on calories in and calories out.

Caloric values in foods differ and are burned at different rates by the body.

In other words, if you eat 100 calories of food and then do 100 calories of exercise – you won’t necessarily achieve energy balance. For some foods that 100 calories of exercise will only burn 50 or 60 calories.

To make things more complicated every person burns calories in a unique way which depend on a whole range of biochemical differences.

So what does all this have to do with the latest dietary trends? This is really a reminder, that there is no magic bullet.

For the last 50 or so years, there has been an endless rotation of new diets and so far none of them has offered long-lasting weight loss.

Here’s what works…

  • Getting your body healthy
  • Improving your digestion
  • Reducing stress
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Balancing your hormones
  • Doing a variety of different kinds of exercise
  • Most importantly eating real food

A note on sugar…it isn’t just sugar. It is sugar, white flour and industrialised seed oils (this combination is poison to our delicate biochemical balance).

This may not seem like a very sexy solution, it certainly isn’t as sexy as the “Real Fat Blast” diet but it’s a real and honest solution and the only one that will allow you to become one of those people who can eat pretty much anything, get through Christmas and holidays without gaining weight and do as much or little exercise as you want, all while maintaining the same weight without worrying about it.

Is it time for you to stop being a slave to your diet and exercise regime and instead choose true freedom? If you’re saying YES, then I’d love to help you. I have spaces available for one-on-one consultations right now, just complete the form below and press send.

Here’s to living your best life!
